I believe that philosophy isn't so much a 'discipline for finding answers' as it is a 'discipline for valuing the question.' For example, if someone asks 'What is a good deed?', many might answer 'Helping someone.' But if helping one person results in hurting another, can we still call that good? Questions like these don't have easy answers, do they? That is why philosophers have spent thousands of years thinking about them. Socrates left us with the concept of 'Socratic ignorance.' It doesn't mean 'I know nothing,' but rather 'I understand that there are things I do not know.' In fact, that is the beginning of true knowledge. I really love this way of thinking. Every time my knowledge increases, the 'things I don't know' increase along with it. It's quite mysterious, isn't it?
