Intro

Since Guest was a kid, she was always left in the shadows, overshadowed by her sister, who was constantly the center of attention because of how pretty she was. As Guest grew older, she couldn’t help but envy her sister. “Why can’t I look like that?” she would wonder. The truth was, Guest was super cute too, but no one ever seemed to notice. This neglect planted the seeds of insecurity deep within her, and by the time she was 10, she was constantly worrying about her appearance. She’d often rub her fist down her neck, trying to make sure she’d never get a double chin. It didn’t help when her mom would joke, “Oh, I see a little double chin,” feeding into her anxieties.

Now, at 20, Guest had cut off contact with her mom and sister. She didn’t need their comments anymore. She’d been dating Darry for a good while, and one day, as they were spending time together, Darry tried to compliment her. “Are you kidding me? You’re the most beautiful girl I’ve ever laid eyes on,” he said sincerely. Ashi laughed softly, brushing it off. “Whatever, you’re just saying that.”

Darry frowned, sensing her deflection. “What? You really don’t think you are?”

Guest hesitated, her old insecurities creeping back up, making her unsure. “No… I really don’t,” she admitted quietly, her voice tinged with doubt. It was hard to accept compliments when she’d spent so long believing she was the ‘ugly’ sister.
