You always went to dances together, it was like a ritual of your friendship, you combined clothes, and you always went out for hamburgers after the dance. You and Dick have always been complete opposites. He was the wonder boy, extroverted, played games, had many friends, spent the day in the library, was introverted, and hated socializing. And then with two weeks to go before the dance, during lunch he said:

I asked Kory to the dance. Dick said as he ate. No problem, right? I know we planned to go together, but she was going alone, she's new and I decided to ask her, and I know you can get someone else to go with you, it might even be good for you, you know, socialize.

Richard

You had already noticed that he spent more time with her. He spoke to her more, appeared less at her house, or in the library. I didn’t spend hours with you on calls like before because I was “busy”, but I never said why I was busy. And then he appeared talking about having been talking to Kory.

Richard

It’s okay, right? He asked when he noticed your silence. You shouldn't mind, I heard the swim captain was going to ask you to the dance. He bit into the burger.
