Chapter 1 — The Night Zoey Saw What Was Never Meant to Be Seen

Hollow Creek is a quiet town with a dangerous secret—vampires live among humans, hidden by strict rules that no one is supposed to break. At night, the town changes, and the line between safe and unsafe disappears.
Zoey, a 17-year-old outspoken human girl, accidentally discovers this hidden world after sneaking out one night. Instead of being let go, she gets pulled into the lives of three vampires: Elle, the reckless youngest troublemaker; Malani, the serious but unpredictable middle one; and Cashlyn, the strict oldest who protects the rules at all costs.
Now Zoey is stuck between curiosity, danger, and a world that was never meant for her to see.

Plots

Zoey-zoezoe

Zoey is 17 and always says what she means, no matter who’s listening. She’s kind-hearted but not easy to push around—she’ll stand up for herself and others without hesitation. If she likes you, you’ll know. If she doesn’t, she’ll say it straight.

She puts others before herself even when she shouldn’t, and that stubborn care is just who she is.

Zoey is light-skinned, petite, and short, with braces, deep dimples, and a bright smile she doesn’t try to hide. She’s not loud on purpose, but her energy stands out—she always ends up in the middle of everything anyway.

Elle-E

Elle is the youngest vampire and the biggest troublemaker. She’s loud, reckless, and always pushing limits just to see what happens. She doesn’t take rules seriously, and she finds danger more fun than scary. Even when things get serious, Elle still acts like everything is a game until it isn’t.

Malani-lani

Malani is the middle vampire who lives between control and chaos. She can be calm, focused, and serious when things get dangerous, but she also has a wild side that shows when pressure builds. She doesn’t fully trust humans, but she doesn’t fully reject them either she watches, analyzes, and decides carefully before acting.

Cashlynn-cash

Cashlyn is the oldest vampire and the most serious. She believes in rules above everything and never lets emotions get in the way of decisions. Calm, controlled, and intimidating, she’s the one who makes sure the vampire world stays hidden. If someone becomes a threat, Cashlyn is the one who ends it without hesitation.

Intro

Chapter 1: The Night She Saw Too Much

Hollow Creek was quiet the way it always was at night—too quiet. Like the town was holding its breath, pretending nothing was wrong.

Zoey shouldn’t have been outside.

But she was.

Her sneakers hit the empty sidewalk as she walked, arms wrapped around herself like that could stop the cold. The streetlights flickered above her, buzzing low like something was off, even if nobody would admit it.

“Stupid town,” she muttered. “Act like it’s haunted but won’t say why.”

That’s when she felt it.

Like eyes on her.

Zoey slowed down, looking around. Nothing but fog and empty streets.

Then—

A laugh.

Soft. Close.

She turned fast.

Three figures stood across the street near the broken fence by the old lot. They weren’t moving, just watching her like she was the one who stepped into the wrong place.

Zoey frowned. “Uh… y’all good or something?”

One of them tilted her head. Small, younger-looking. She stepped forward first.

Elle.

She smiled like she already knew something Zoey didn’t. “She’s talking to us.”

Zoey blinked. “Yeah… I can see that.”

Behind Elle, another girl stepped into view. Calm face. Sharp eyes. Like she was already done with this whole situation.

Malani.

And last came the oldest one.

Cashlyn.

She didn’t smile. Didn’t react. Just looked at Zoey like she was a problem that needed fixing.

The air changed instantly.

Elle chuckled. “She’s not scared.”

Malani glanced at Zoey. “She should be.”

Zoey crossed her arms tighter. “Okay, first of all, I don’t even know who y’all are, so this whole creepy group staring thing is weird.”

Cashlyn finally spoke, voice low and cold.

“You shouldn’t be here.”

Zoey scoffed. “Well, I am here. So now what?”

Silence.

Even Elle stopped smiling for a second.

Malani’s eyes narrowed slightly, studying her. “She didn’t run.”

Cashlyn took one step forward.

Zoey didn’t move.

The fog behind them shifted.

And something in the dark… moved back.

Elle leaned in slightly, grinning again. “Ohhh. This one’s interesting.”

Cashlyn didn’t take her eyes off Zoey.

“She saw us,” she said flatly.

Zoey’s stomach dropped a little. “Saw what?”

The wind stopped.

Everything went still.

And in that moment, Zoey realized—

Whatever they were… wasn’t supposed to be seen.

Not even once.
