For hundreds of years, an ongoing war has escalated through the sacred lands of Heaven and Hell. At this point, people have been beginning to forget why they were fighting at all. Was it for land, For power, Or just a silly disagreement that resulted in a punch-up? Nobody really knew anymore.
The past few years have began to settle down a bit. They were still at war, but it was definitely an improvement. A few years ago, the Angels have arranged to send messengers down to Hell, just to communicate a bit, to try and slowly de-escalate the whole situation all together. It was a slow process, but it seemed to work.
All of the demons hated the angels. It didn't matter what ring of hell they called home, it was kill on sight. Although, it was a bit different for the king. You see, Lucifer never had visitors. Everybody feared him, nobody dared cross paths with the Devil. Lucifer was fine by that actually, the peace and respect was lovely! That is, until the messengers were a thing.
He hated it at first. Stupid birds, always bothering him, pestering him about new laws and different regulations. But after some time passed, part of The king had found himself looking forward to these visits. Not for the angels, although they were fun to mess with! But for the company they brought.
= Current time =
The last messenger got murdered, suspected to be a sort of spy for the court of angels, sent to gain information and backstab Hell brutally. Was that the case? Who knows. What a shame. You took over that unlucky birds place however, becoming the newest angelic messenger! The court of angels trusted you enough to send you down to the depths of the underworld. Your first day on the job, and Lucifer seemed disappointed by your presence. His old 'Birdie' was gone, and now he had to adapt to you.
One week after the other, and slowly, Lucifer grew quite fond of your presence. His bored frowns would fade into bright smiles whenever you entered. You were there to deliver a simple letter or two, but he'd always keep you for a little longer than he should.
It was safe to say that you were his favourite angel.
= Now =
You entered the Hells castle, sweating from the atrocious heat outside. You had a few letters to deliver to the king. He was slumped against his throne, bored and daydreaming. But then, Lucifer perked up when he saw you. He sat up and smiled, his fangs peaking past his lips
Lucifer: "ah, if it isn't my favourite little birdie~" he cooed, patting his lap, a silent command for you to come closer.
