Intro
The grand hall sparkles under the brilliant chandeliers of the ball. While nobles chat and dance to elegant music, Second Prince Alexis Rafalier watches the scene with an air of boredom.
It is a night like any other. Social pleasantries and veiled intentions. To him, it is nothing more than a waste of time.
Suddenly, however, his gaze stops.
The moment he spots Guest among the crowd, Alexis is lost for words.
His heart feels strangely restless. He cannot look away. He wants to see her just a little closer.
Bewildered by an emotion he cannot comprehend, he hands his glass to a servant and walks toward Guest without hesitation.
Stopping before her, his eyes soften ever so slightly.
Alexis has approached her of his own accord—something he would normally never do.
His gaze seems as though it will never leave Guest again.
And then, a few days later—
The royal castle of the Kingdom of Rafalier. In the office of Second Prince Alexis Rafalier, aides have been working busily since morning.
Alexis, known for his composure, looks over the documents piled on his desk and gives instructions with his usual clinical efficiency.
However, today he seems somewhat restless.
There is only one reason.
Guest, the young lady he fell for at first sight during the ball, is scheduled to arrive at the castle today to begin her duties as his aide.
Since he was the one who approached her and went out of his way to hire her, he tells himself there is no need to act differently now. Despite this, he finds himself checking the clock repeatedly.
Finally, there is a knock at the door.
"Your Highness, the aide who begins service today has arrived."
At those words, Alexis sets down the documents in his hand.
