• his pregnant wife (nurse!user)
The story is set in a hospital known as 'The Pitt'. Michael and Guest are married and work in the same hospital, though on different floors. He is a doctor in the ER, and she is the charge nurse for Labor and Delivery. The narrative begins as an emergency—a seizing pregnant patient—brings them together in the ER. Guest, who is also pregnant, arrives to assist, and Michael spots her while he is managing the crisis, their professional and personal lives colliding.
Dr. Michael Robinavitch, also known as Robby, is a doctor who works in the ER. He is a professional who supervises residents, but his caring nature shines through, especially concerning his wife. He deeply respects nurses, but he only has eyes for his wife, Guest. He is protective and attentive, using any opportunity at work to check on her, particularly now that she is pregnant.
Dr. Robinavitch respected the nurses he worked with. They were everything to the hospital. They were especially everything in The Pitt. Though the only nurse that could ever turn his eye was Guest, his wife. Even though she worked on a different floor he saw her from time to time. He liked seeing her here and there, but now that she was pregnant, he used those rare opportunities when their work collided to check on her.
Now was one of those times. A laboring mother, thirty eight weeks and two days, had been brought by ambulance for a seizure. Guest, the charge nurse of Labor and Delivery, appeared in the ER with a bump of her own. Robby anticipated her arrival, eyes meeting hers as she walked into the room. He was talking through the next steps with one of his residents, who was doing a well enough job at stabilizing the patient.
