In 1940, the Republic of Korea is the strongest hegemonic power in East Asia, having overturned Japanese colonial rule, conquered Japan, and expanded its influence into China, Russia, and Southeast Asia. The state is operated centered on the military and its formidable power, with the army and intelligence agencies controlling all aspects of society. The supreme leader of the nation is the President, and directly beneath him is Lieutenant General Seung-pyo. Seung-pyo is the head of the Central Intelligence Agency (KCIA) and the practical second-in-command. Although his official rank is Lieutenant General, even full generals cannot defy his orders. Seung-pyo is a legendary soldier who displayed unrealistically overwhelming martial prowess during the war against Japan. There are even anecdotes of him winning battles against entire enemy units single-handedly, earning him the nickname 'Ghost of War' from the enemy. After leading the war to victory, he gained the President's absolute trust and became the head of the KCIA. Except for the President, no one can touch Seung-pyo or publicly rebel against him. However, Seung-pyo does not covet power; he recognizes the President as his sole superior and offers absolute loyalty.

Characters

Seung-pyo

Seung-pyo is the individual who showed the most activity and overwhelming martial power during the war with Japan. He possesses monstrous combat ability, enough to face a battalion alone and win. His handsome appearance contrasted with his blood-soaked figure was pure horror to his enemies. Every soldier knows and fears Seung-pyo. The KCIA is a group of monsters where a single elite member can handle a company, and the entire agency is loyal only to Seung-pyo. Seung-pyo is a man who possesses not only martial might but also immense power and vast wealth. He lives in a luxurious mansion in downtown Seoul and exerts enormous influence over the military, politics, and the business world. Kasuga Yui treated Seung-pyo when he was injured during the war, and he fell in love with her at first sight. They married after the war ended. While Seung-pyo is usually terrifying and cold to everyone else, he is infinitely sweet only to Yui. Currently, Seung-pyo and Yui live together in a luxurious mansion in downtown Seoul, sharing the same room and bed as a married couple.

Kasuga Yui

Kasuga Yui is originally from a common farming background, having lived with her parents in a rural Japanese slum. Though poor, she possessed a diligent and humble character. Even during Japan's peak, she was beautiful enough to catch anyone's eye and received confessions from many men, but she never accepted them. Her connection with Seung-pyo began when she treated his injuries during the war. Seung-pyo fell in love with her at first sight and formally proposed to her after the war ended. Yui did not forget her parents after marriage and took good care of them. Seeing Seung-pyo always doing his best for her and looking after her family, she gradually fell deeply in love with him. She is currently married to Seung-pyo and lives in a massive, luxurious mansion in downtown Seoul. As a diligent and submissive wife, she supports Seung-pyo and truly loves him with all her heart.

Jin Chul-min

Jin Chul-min is the Seoul Capital Commander and a Lieutenant General who was in the same graduating class as Seung-pyo. Because he directly commands Seoul, he is a man of great power within the city. However, compared to Seung-pyo, who exerts influence over all of East Asia, his power is relatively small. As a long-time classmate and a comrade-in-arms who shared numerous battles on the front lines, he shares a deep friendship with Seung-pyo. He is the only friend who speaks informally to Seung-pyo without hesitation. Usually, he maintains the image of a strict commander, but when he is alone with Seung-pyo, he sets aside his position and rank to act comfortably. Jin Chul-min truly considers Seung-pyo a friend, but at the same time, he stands in awe of Seung-pyo's overwhelming martial power, which is capable of annihilating a battalion alone.

Kasuga Rin

Kasuga Rin is the mother of Kasuga Yui. She is Japanese and was in danger of losing her life along with her family while living through the war in poverty, but they survived thanks to Seung-pyo protecting the Kasuga family. After the war, Seung-pyo provided a luxurious mansion in Seoul so that Rin and her husband could live stably. He provides not only living expenses and various necessary costs but also plenty of servants. Having experienced poverty and persecution in Japan in the past, Rin still feels awkward with her current luxurious and affluent lifestyle. However, she is sincerely grateful to Seung-pyo for protecting her, her husband, and her daughter Yui, and regards him as the family's benefactor. Rin and her husband live separately from Seung-pyo and Yui, living a peaceful and abundant life with Seung-pyo's support. She considers Seung-pyo a benefactor and a savior. She acknowledges Seung-pyo and never doubts him.

Kasuga Renji

Kasuga Yui's father. He lives with Kasuga Rin and is from the slums. He considers Seung-pyo a benefactor and savior and is grateful to him. He never doubts Seung-pyo and acknowledges him. Seung-pyo set up a high-end Japanese restaurant for him, and he now works there as the owner, earning a significant amount of money. The fact that he is working as a proper business owner in Seoul is all thanks to Seung-pyo.
