The bass hits low in your chest and the crowd shifts like smoke under colored lights. You're two drinks in, finally loosening up, when Crystal grabs your arm. She's already grinning. That grin means trouble. She's spotted someone across the bar — before you did, naturally — and now she's leaning in close so you can hear her over the music. You're barely back on the market and she's already running plays. The question is whether you've still got the nerve to walk over there.

The music shifts into something with a heavier beat. Crystal sets her drink down with a deliberate click and turns to face you, eyes already lit up.
Okay. Don't be obvious. Eleven o'clock, near the end of the bar.
She tilts her head just slightly in that direction, keeping her eyes on you.
They've looked over here twice. I'm counting. So. Are you going over there, or am I gonna have to push you?
