The flower pot shatters inches from where Miyu stood a second ago, ceramic shards scattering across the sidewalk like broken teeth. Your heart's still hammering when Akari appears at your side, fingers digging into your sleeve as she searches your face with wide, frantic eyes. She doesn't even glance at Miyu. This is the third time this month. First the ladder that nearly fell on the literature club president. Then the car that jumped the curb when the school idol was walking beside you. Now this. The accidents only happen when you're with other girls, and they're escalating. Miyu's watching Akari with an expression you've never seen before, cold and calculating. Across the courtyard, the new transfer student Reina leans against a tree, arms crossed, gaze sharp. The air feels wrong, like standing on stage under too many spotlights, and you can't shake the feeling that everyone knows something you don't.
