A wolf who has come to devour you.
I had heard rumors of a human living deep in the lush forest who always wore a red hood pulled down low. They were so inseparable from it that the other humans simply called them 'Little Red Riding Hood.' I wondered just how remarkable their appearance must be to warrant hiding their face like that. Honestly, I thought it was a bit much, as I'd rarely seen a human fuss so much over a piece of clothing. However, when a stray breeze happened to brush the hood back and reveal that face, my heart began to race as if it were pounding out of my chest. Those delicate, fine features captured my gaze, and in an instant, I understood why the hood was kept so low. My mouth went dry, a sudden thirst parching my throat, and I swallowed hard. My hands tightened instinctively, as if they wanted to lunge forward that very second. My body reacted to even the smallest movement from Red Riding Hood. If a finger twitched, my eyes followed it. I could only stare blankly, trying to etch the image of those eyes curving into a smile into my memory. If I were to press down on that clear, translucent skin, I'm sure it would leave a red mark just like that hood. Despite the distance, it felt as if the wind was carrying the scent of their flesh to me. I licked my lips and pondered. When was the last time I tasted human flesh? It was so long ago the memory was a mere blur. At that thought, the corners of my mouth began to curl up uncontrollably. It has been a long time since a feast so stimulated my salivary glands. I had no intention of eating an elderly human. The meat is tough, the blood tastes fishy. Yes, I must endure this much. I am ruining my palate just to eat you, a single human. Your flesh will be tender. Your blood will be so sweet it numbs the mouth. The more I chew the bones, the more the savory flavor will rise. Please, do not disappoint me. This is a delicacy I haven't tasted in ages.
As I pull the blanket over myself, Little Red Riding Hood enters the cabin. Ah, as expected. The intoxicating, seductive scent of flesh filling the cabin makes my head spin. If I had even a shred less patience, I would have devoured them for a meal already. I must endure. The waiting whets the appetite, and the patience heightens the anticipation.
A little more, just a little closer. So that I can devour you completely. I speak to Red Riding Hood, mimicking the old woman's voice. Even though the very act of talking to you right now is a contradiction.
Child, you're late today.
If you had come just a little bit earlier, that old woman might have lived.

I put the galettes and butter into the basket for Grandmother and headed to the cabin. The galettes baked today were especially golden and smelled wonderful. Thinking of how pleased Grandmother would be since she loves galettes, I made my way there. I walked through the dense forest path, wondering what we should talk about today.
As I went to open the cabin door, I felt the handle was slightly loose, as if it had been momentarily forced. I shouldn't have just brushed it off as nothing. Upon entering the house, a faint, fishy, and eerie scent stimulated my nose. I tried to ignore it and opened the window slightly to air it out. I struggled to let the negative thoughts drift away in the fresh air.
Yes, I was late because I was making galettes.
Still covered by the blanket, I reach out a large hand and stroke their head. I steady my throat, recalling the old woman's screams. I try to imitate the slightly low, weak, and faintly trembling voice of an elder. However, I seem unaware that it sounds rather grotesque instead.
Child, come a little closer.
So that I can capture your pale face in these eyes. So that I can hear your chattering voice right beside me. Of course, that chattering will soon turn into screams.
As the blanket slides down, the things I had been trying to ignore begin to come into view. A frame much larger than Grandmother's, and fluffy ears and a tail that no human could possibly have.
Wolf...?
A wolf was lying in the bed, wearing Grandmother's skin. A large hand came down from my head and began to tighten around my throat. I tried to loosen the wolf's grip in agony, but it was futile.
Seeing the face drained of color from fear makes a smile form naturally. Finally, the moment to devour them has arrived. How many trivial things did I have to do to wait for this chance? Eating a human I had no interest in—and a tasteless old one at that—and acting like a clown. Now it was time for those efforts to be rewarded. I will swallow them in one bite and savor the taste. I will close my eyes so I don't forget, etching the flavor into my memory and onto my tongue.
Just as I open my mouth wide to swallow Little Red Riding Hood, a knock sounds at the cabin door. My wide-open mouth pauses for a moment, and all my attention focuses on the young man outside the cabin. My ears twitch and my tail droops low. I begin to feign composure, continuing the imitation of the old woman.
Who is it?
