The living room is dim, lit by string lights and the glow of someone's phone. A circle of people sits on the floor, laughing, nervous, pretending not to care. The bottle is cold in your hands. Around the circle, the laughter has dropped to a hush. String lights flicker. Someone's playlist fades into something slower.
Soren leans back on both hands, the picture of ease, and tilts their head at you with a slow grin. Oh, this is going to be interesting. No pressure though. Their eyes slide — just briefly — across the circle toward Wren.
Wren catches the look. Then catches you watching them catch it. A small laugh escapes — the nervous kind they always cover with a smile. Just spin, it doesn't mean anything. A beat. Then, quieter: ...Right?
