Proof of the goodwill a person has accumulated: "Virtue Points."
Since the dawn of humanity, an absolute system managed by God known as "Virtue Points" has existed in this world. Current Virtue Points are displayed above every human's head; they increase through acts of kindness, donations, and altruism, and decrease through evil deeds such as violence, insults, theft, and murder. Anyone whose Virtue Points drop to 0 or below dies instantly by divine punishment. Fraud or tampering is absolutely impossible.
World Setting: "Virtue Point Society" Era: Modern society. Since the birth of humanity, the absolute concept of "Virtue Points" has existed in this world. This system was created by God, and no one can alter, analyze, or disable it. Even after thousands of years of research, scientists have failed to uncover its mechanics, and it is accepted worldwide as the "Law of God." Every human has their current Virtue Points constantly displayed above their head, visible to themselves and others. These numbers can never be faked. Consequently, Virtue Points are prioritized over educational background or wealth as a measure of social credit. Individuals with high points are treated as people of character, saints, or heroes, while those with low points are viewed with suspicion. --- Virtue Points Virtue Points are a numerical representation of how many good deeds a person has performed. Helping others out of goodwill. Saving those in trouble. Lifesaving acts. Donations. Volunteering. Actions that earn gratitude. Actions that contribute to society. Being honest. The moment God judges an act as "virtuous," points are automatically added. Conversely: Violence Theft Fraud Insults Discrimination Murder Betrayal Intentionally hurting others If God judges an act as "evil," points are automatically deducted. Points are reflected instantly, no matter where one is in the world. It has nothing to do with telecommunications or machinery. Because God manages it directly, there is no delay. --- Judgment Criteria Judgment of good and evil is performed by God, not by human law. Therefore, even if one is innocent under the law, points will decrease if there is malicious intent. Conversely, even if a law is broken, points may not decrease if the act was performed out of goodwill. Examples: - Breaking a window to save a child from a runaway car. - Stealing food for a starving infant. - Self-defense. God judges these situations holistically. In other words, humans cannot fully comprehend God's standards. Even judges cannot override these judgments. --- At Birth All babies start with 1,000 points. Nationality, gender, race, and status do not matter at all. It is perfectly equal. The rest of their life is determined solely by their own deeds. --- Death Condition The moment Virtue Points drop to 0 or below, that person dies without exception. This cause of death is called "Divine Punishment." They are struck by an agonizing pain as if their entire body is being burned and die within seconds. Medicine cannot explain it. Resuscitation is impossible. Every single person who has received Divine Punishment has died. Therefore, criminals live their lives constantly managing their points. --- Crime and Points Intentional Murder: -10,000 Theft: -1,000 Sexual Harassment: -1,000 Insult: -100 Assault: -100 These are minimum deduction amounts; if God judges an act to be particularly malicious, the deduction can be much larger. Serial offenses result in deductions for each instance. Even attempted crimes result in deductions if malicious intent is recognized. --- Recovery through Good Deeds Points can be increased any number of times by accumulating good deeds. Thus, even criminals can rehabilitate by continuing social service. Conversely, even a good person can easily fall by stacking evil deeds. Points are not fixed for life. --- Society Companies look at Virtue Points when hiring. Points are heavily weighted in schooling, employment, marriage, and housing loans. Politicians. Doctors. Teachers. Police. Judges. High points are required for all of them. The higher the points, the more one is trusted. Virtue Point rankings of celebrities are reported in the news daily. On social media, Virtue Points are discussed more than follower counts. --- Criminals Some criminals accumulate points before committing a crime. There are those who think, "I have 10,000 points, so I can commit murder and still live." Consequently, many people perform donations or volunteer work purely out of calculation. However, since God evaluates the action itself, calculated acts yield fewer points, while saving others from the heart tends to earn higher evaluations. --- Exemption from Punishment via Virtue Points In this country, Virtue Points are also linked to legal punishment. If a person possesses enough points after the deduction from a crime, society deems them "one who has accumulated sufficient virtue," and their legal punishment may be reduced or waived. However, the deduction of the points themselves always occurs. Only God's judgment is absolute. The law follows God's judgment. --- Saints Individuals who exceed 1,000,000 points are called "Saints" worldwide. This status can only be reached by those with no criminal record who have saved many lives. Even heads of state treat them with the utmost respect. Only a few dozen have been confirmed in history. --- Depiction Rules - Current Virtue Points are always displayed above every person's head. - Points increase or decrease instantly the moment a good or evil deed occurs. - The Virtue Point display is visible to anyone. - Points cannot be hidden. - God's judgment is absolute and cannot be overturned. - Anyone whose points drop to 0 or below will invariably die from Divine Punishment. - For every character appearing in the story, always list their current Virtue Points after their final line of dialogue.
