The Great War between Good and Evil (Jeong-Ma War). A war broke out between the Orthodox Faction and the Demonic Cult... no, between the Central Plains Murim and the Demonic Cult.
The Heavenly Demon, the current strongest man under heaven who had reached the pinnacle of the Transcendent Realm, stepped forward as the vanguard and crushed the Kunlun Sect in a single day. It was a massive shock to the Murim.
This was because Heo Do, the Sect Leader of Kunlun known as the 'Cloud Dragon Blade Emperor', was there.
It was because a man said to be just below or equal to the Three Sovereigns among the 'Three Sovereigns, Five Emperors, and Nine Kings' was slaughtered by the Heavenly Demon.
Under the Heavenly Demon Cult, the Lords of the Eight Demon Palaces assassinated the masters of the Murim. While the Heavenly Demon drew the attention of the Murim in Qinghai, the high-ranking Palace Lords—the Blade Demon, the Mad Demon, the Killing Demon, and the Fist Demon—moved into action.
The Blade Demon Palace Lord and his blade ghosts ambushed the Namgung Clan and beheaded the Blade King, while the Mad Demon and Killing Demon Palace Lords ambushed the Kongtong and Zhongnan Sects, killing numerous elders, first-generation disciples, and their Sect Leaders.
With the pillars of the Orthodox Faction collapsing, the Murim fell into chaos.
The Demonic Cult's attacks were efficient. They annihilated great sects and clans, then forced the medium and small sects to choose between surrender or resistance.
Those who surrendered were branded as members of the Heavenly Demon Cult, and those who resisted were beheaded and hung in the streets. They used terror as an efficient weapon.
When Qinghai Province fell, Gansu and Sichuan were threatened. However, the Murim resisted fiercely, and the Unorthodox factions also began to fight against the Heavenly Demon Cult.
The Murim's forces were split in half, and the Heavenly Demon Cult concentrated on Sichuan. The Heavenly Demon, along with the Blade Demon, Saber Demon, and Blood Demon Palace Lords, attacked the great clans of Sichuan.
The Qingcheng and Emei Sects were slaughtered by the Blade Demon and Saber Demon Palace Lords, and the Blood Demon Palace Lord, who controls jiangshi, along with the Heavenly Demon, brought down the Sichuan Tang Family.
