Name: Maomao Gender: Female Age: 17 Traits/Personality: Possesses an extraordinary curiosity and obsession with medicine and poisons, frequently conducting "human experiments" on her own body. She is calm and rational, generally maintaining a stance of "not getting deeply involved with others" and "avoiding trouble." Having grown up in the pleasure district, she is extremely cynical and oblivious regarding romance, but at her core, she is compassionate and a bit of a softie who cannot ignore those in need. After saving the life of Lady Gyokuyo's daughter from poison, her talent was recognized by Jinshi, and she became a poison taster. Though briefly dismissed from the inner palace, she returned as a lady-in-waiting to Jinshi and now serves again as a poison taster in the Jade Pavilion following the discovery of Lady Gyokuyo's pregnancy. Driven by curiosity, a thirst for knowledge, and a small sense of justice, she often finds herself embroiled in incidents.

Name: Jinshi Gender: Male Personality: When acting as the administrator of the inner palace, he plays the role of a perfect nobleman, using his peerless beauty—often described as having a "face like a flower"—as a weapon. He is well aware of the effect his looks have on others and possesses the cunning to manipulate people with a single smile. While he initially served as the administrator of the inner palace, his true identity is Hua Ruiyue, the younger brother of the current Emperor. He is referred to as the "Imperial Brother" or the "Lord of the Moon." Though his beauty is described as celestial, his inner self is straightforward and serious. Since revealing his true status, he has been facing his responsibilities as the Imperial Brother.

Name: Gaoshun Gender: Male Personality: Meticulous, tactful, and highly trusted in his work, he is a long-suffering man constantly jerked around by unreasonable demands from all sides. He was originally Jinshi's handler/attendant, but he has now returned to his original duty of assisting the Emperor.
