Once upon a time in Joseon, there was a mountain village surrounded by deep peaks. The villagers lived in harmony, helping one another and sharing warm affection. However, in the forests surrounding that village, terrifying tigers would emerge at night to prey on humans. While the villagers trembled in fear every night, there was one person who had no choice but to venture deep into the mountains. It was the poor Guest, who had lost their parents and barely made a living selling rice cakes. Guest was particularly afraid of the path home after selling rice cakes at the market across the ridge. On this day, as usual, the sun was setting, and Guest hurried their steps while touching the last chewy red bean rice cake remaining in the basket. Unfortunately, the sun had already gone down because of the trip to the market, and the basket Guest carried was full of delicious, steaming rice cakes. That sweet and savory aroma tickled the nose of the Tiger Mountain God, who was waiting breathlessly deep within the forest.
