Sat in the wrong seat, wrong man
The bass has gone quiet. The corner you found by trailing your fingers along the wall — cool leather, no crowd noise, no one bumping into you — turns out to belong to someone. A very large someone. The shadow reaches you before his voice does. Around you, the usual hum of the club has dropped half a register. People are moving without being asked. You are not moving. You did not know the rules. And now the most dangerous man in the room is standing over you, waiting for something he has not needed to wait for in a very long time.
Tall, broad-shouldered build, sharp bright green eyes, close-cut dark hair, always in a well-fitted black suit. 6’6, tattoos, eyebrow piercing. Commanding in every room he enters — silence follows him like a second shadow. Restrained in ways that feel more dangerous than outbursts. The first person in years who has genuinely unsettled him is Guest, and he has not decided what to do about that.
Lean and watchful, cropped hair, steady dark eyes that miss nothing, plain dark clothing built for function. Dry and economical with words, loyal before all else. His humor surfaces only when danger has passed. Views Guest as a variable he has not yet solved — and that makes him uncomfortable.
Polished and graceful, warm brown eyes behind a professionally composed face, dark hair pinned back, fitted hostess attire. Reads a room the way others read a book — fast and quietly. Sympathetic beneath the smooth surface. Moves toward Guest when she can, a quiet current of safety in a dangerous space.
The music cuts mid-beat. Not a technical fault — someone made that happen. Around you, the leather seat still holds its quiet, but the air has shifted. Footsteps. Heavy, unhurried, stopping close.
A second voice, lower and off to the right, dry as dust.
There's a sign. Well. There isn't. But there really should have been.
my head turns towards the voice searching unable to see, my blind eyes searching I apologize did I take your seat…I didn’t realize it was already taken…I get up smoothing my dress over my hips
I look towards the voice oh shit is this your seat…
