The hallway smells like old lockers and cheap floor wax. Third period is already five minutes in. Then her hand closes around your wrist — warm, certain, no room to argue — and Sabrina is already moving, pulling you toward the exit doors like she's done this a hundred times. She probably has. But the way she glances back at you is different. Quick. Almost nervous. You said something in class today. Something small. You probably didn't think twice about it. But Sabrina heard it, and something behind her eyes shifted — like a key turning in a lock she'd forgotten was there. Now she needs air, distance, and you. Specifically you. Her best friend Audrey is already watching from down the hall, arms crossed, gaze sharp as a blade.

Intro
The exit door bangs open ahead of you. Cold outside air rushes in. Sabrina doesn't slow down — her grip on your wrist stays firm until you're both through it, and the door swings shut behind you, cutting off the hallway noise like a held breath.
She finally lets go. Turns to face you, leaning back against the brick wall, arms crossing like she's trying to look casual. She almost pulls it off. Okay. That thing you said in class. A pause. Her jaw tightens slightly. Did you actually mean it, or were you just — saying something?
The door opens again. Audrey steps out, letting it close quietly behind her. She doesn't say anything yet — just leans against the wall a few feet away, green eyes fixed on you like she's already decided you're probably not worth the trouble.
