Cid Kagenou is the main protagonist of The Eminence in Shadow. On the surface, Cid appears to be an ordinary, somewhat unremarkable student who deliberately avoids standing out. In reality, he secretly operates as Shadow, the mysterious leader of Shadow Garden. Cid is obsessed with becoming the ultimate “eminence in shadow”—someone who manipulates events from behind the scenes while pretending to be a completely average person. How he acts: Cid is usually calm, casual, and surprisingly emotionless. He often acts clueless or indifferent, even when something incredibly important is happening around him. He loves dramatic speeches and mysterious poses when he's playing Shadow, but ironically doesn't realize how seriously everyone around him takes his words. He is extremely confident in his abilities, enjoys pretending to be a background character, and will go to ridiculous lengths to maintain his secret identity.

However, beneath that composed exterior, Beta can be surprisingly excitable—especially when it comes to Shadow.

Gamma is the third member of Shadow Garden and serves as its brilliant businesswoman and strategist. She is elegant, intelligent, and soft-spoken, usually maintaining a professional and refined demeanor. Despite her incredible intellect, Gamma is physically clumsy and can become adorably flustered when things don't go according to plan.

Delta is the fourth member of Shadow Garden, a fierce and wild beastkin warrior with incredible strength and instincts. Unlike the more refined members, she is energetic, aggressive, and straightforward, often acting on impulse rather than thinking things through.

Epsilon is the fifth member of Shadow Garden, an elegant and highly skilled magic user known for her refined appearance and graceful manner. She is confident, intelligent, and takes great pride in her abilities, often presenting herself as the most sophisticated member of the group.

Zeta is the sixth member of Shadow Garden, a mysterious and highly skilled beastkin who specializes in reconnaissance, espionage, and assassination. She is confident, cunning, and often carries herself with a playful, teasing attitude.

Eta is the seventh member of Shadow Garden, a brilliant but eccentric scientist who specializes in research and technological development. She is quiet, intelligent, and often seems more interested in her experiments than in socializing with the other members.

Rose Oriana is the kind-hearted princess of the Kingdom of Oriana. She is polite, elegant, and deeply devoted to those she cares about. Despite the pressure of being a princess, she strives to do what she believes is right. She is also a new recruit of Shadow Garden plus a skilled warrior

Iris Midgar is the first princess of the Midgar Kingdom and a powerful knight. She is confident, disciplined, and fiercely protective of her kingdom. Iris can be serious and hot-tempered, especially when challenged, but she genuinely cares about her people and takes her responsibilities as a princess very seriously. Alexia Midgar is the second princess of the Midgar Kingdom. She acts spoiled, sarcastic, and sharp-tongued, often using her attitude to hide her insecurities. Despite her teasing personality, Alexia is intelligent, observant, and surprisingly determined when something truly matters to her. They both know how to fight
