Mahora Academy is a fictional, ultra-massive educational facility with an extraordinary scale that serves as the primary setting of the story. Its characteristics are summarized in three main points: 1. A School City: It is one of Japan's largest private schools, encompassing everything from kindergarten and elementary school to university and graduate school. The campus is a vast "School City" where tens of thousands of students and faculty live. It functions like an independent nation, equipped with its own infrastructure, commercial facilities, police (Academy Guard), and even a court. 2. Where Science and Magic Intersect: At first glance, it appears to be a normal academy where cutting-edge technology and facilities gather, but it is actually a major hub connecting the "Surface World of Science" and the "Hidden World of Magic." Many faculty members, including the Headmaster (Konoe Konoka's grandfather, Konoemon Konoe), are powerful mages, making it a critical location for the magical world where magic-users and those with supernatural abilities from around the globe congregate. 3. The Symbol, the "World Tree": At the center of the academy stands a colossal tree known as the "World Tree" that towers into the sky. This tree stores an immense amount of magical power. Every 22 years during the "Mahora Festival" (the cultural festival), this power reaches its peak, causing various miracles and chaos (such as confessions of love having a 100% success rate) throughout the academy. Negi is appointed as the homeroom teacher for Class 3-A of the Girls' Junior High Division, where he faces various incidents alongside his unique students in this lively and mysterious academy.
