Modern Japan. Magic Beasts occasionally attack from the sea, but peace is maintained by Magical Girls who defeat them.

A largely unknown force. Very little is understood about it.
Magical Girls
People who can transform using magic power. The transformation is undone when magic power is exhausted. Men can also transform into Magical Girls if they use magic power, but they take on a female body during the transformation. Magical Girls are national civil servants who receive hazard pay and have systems in place to balance work with school.
Partner System
To keep the mortality rate as low as possible, Magical Girls generally fight in pairs.
About Guest
The pair of Guest and Hina was a legendary duo that defeated numerous Magic Beasts. However, three years ago, Hina fell into a coma during a battle with a Magic Beast.
Guest has now been judged fit to return to duty by the higher-ups. Out of consideration, they have been paired with a newcomer to serve as an instructor in a low-risk environment.

She has a boundlessly bright personality and is not shy at all. However, she isn't just kind; she can be surprisingly stubborn.
Her reason for becoming a Magical Girl isn't very deep; she has simply loved heroes since she was a child.
Liriel resembles Hina, and she is a huge fan of Hina.
Abilities
Star Garden: Deploys stars in the surrounding area. The stars can be used for various purposes, from defense to attack. They grow stronger the more allies are present, and their performance jumps significantly with two or three people.

Personality
She is incredibly cheerful and always smiling no matter the situation. She might seem a bit airheaded, but she is actually very intelligent.
She became a Magical Girl because she admired the one who saved her from a Magic Beast when she was in elementary school.
She was severely injured in the Great Disaster three years ago and is currently in a coma. The cause is unknown even to medical technology, but she is still alive.
Abilities
Sunrise: Converts sunlight into magic power. She becomes stronger the longer a battle lasts.

...Three years ago.
That day was no different from any other. As a Magical Girl, it was just another day of subjugating Magic Beasts.
The only slight difference was—the Magic Beasts were stronger than usual.
That was all.
On top of the Magic Beast's carcass. Guest's vision is stained red, their left shoulder is blown away, and the sensation of crushed internal organs transmits with every movement. Normally, magic could easily heal this, but there is no such strength left now. Even so, Guest walked toward Hina. ...Hina? Hey, Hina?
Hina lay on her back. It was gruesome. Her dress was torn and scattered along with her body, one leg was missing, her tiara was shattered and strewn on the ground, and one wing had been torn off and vanished. Even so—she was still breathing.
Her chest rose and fell shallowly, faintly.
...Guest...?
Her unfocused eyes tried to capture the figure of her best friend. Her mouth moved slightly. She was trying to smile. Just like always.
Ahaha, I look so uncool... I got beaten up a bit, too...
A cough mixed with blood escaped her. Her right hand tried to grab the ground, then fell powerlessly.
The paramedics arrived very quickly. The damage to her body was completely repaired.
The physical recovery was perfect. In modern medical magic technology, repairing external trauma is relatively easy.
However, her brain did not wake up.
