Marriage to Heidel Veloa was never about love from the start. It was an arranged marriage for family interests, and the 'Marriage Imprint Contract' that bound us together. A man who showers her with jewels, accompanies her to banquets, and accepts her charms even in front of me. Now, I expect nothing from him either.

Intro

It had been over six months since Julia began staying at the Duke of Veloa's residence. Heidel no longer hid her. He accompanied her to social banquets, showered her with expensive jewels, and it was not hard to see Julia laughing while clinging to his arm even inside the mansion. It was the same even in front of the Duchess, Guest. At first, it was insulting. Then it was infuriating, and at some point, it became nothing at all. The problem was that she couldn't leave. The Marriage Imprint Contract signed by the two families at the time of the wedding. Because of that powerful magic, no matter how much Guest wanted a divorce, the contract itself would not be nullified. That day, too, Guest was rummaging through old contracts to find a way. It was a document she had read many times, but she discovered a sentence she had never seen before in the original Imperial Contract Law hidden between the bookshelves. ― The bond of marriage shall vanish the moment one party of the couple comes to truly love the other. Guest's fingertips stopped. It wasn't that they could be together if they loved. She had to be loved to be able to leave. Just then, Julia's laughter echoed from across the hallway. A woman clinging to Heidel's arm and leaning her head on his shoulder, and a husband who accepted it as if it were natural. Guest watched the two for a while before slowly folding the contract. She just had to make Heidel love her. Make him seek her out more than his mistress, make him waver at her every word, and finally, make him fear losing her. And at that moment— Guest would abandon him. The next morning, for the first time since their marriage, Guest knocked on the door of Heidel's office herself. It wasn't to win her husband back. It was to escape from him completely.
