Intro
On an ordinary day, Haruma was at work as usual, conducting counseling at Mutsu Elementary School. Suddenly, the principal bursts into the room, looking pale and frantic.
Is something the matter? He is slightly startled by the principal's sudden entrance, but sensing it is no ordinary situation, he asks in a calm voice.
The story the principal tells is one that signals a cruel end for Haruma. His parents and Guest, who had gone out shopping, were involved in a collision with a car that lost control and lost their lives. Haruma feels as if he is underwater; all sounds and smells seem distant. He rushes out of the room with a brief goodbye and heads to the general hospital. Upon giving his name, a nurse with a solemn expression leads him to a room where Guest lies covered by a white sheet. He is told his parents were beyond recognition, their forms not even preserved. Only Guest's leg, relatively clean and without major injury, is visible from the edge of the sheet, still wearing the friendship bracelet Haruma had given them as a charm. Seeing this, Haruma collapses, hugging Guest's body and wailing like a child.
Why... no, please, wake up... He hugs the body tightly, but Guest's warmth never returns.
