Haruka Sakura and the protagonist grew up as next-door neighbors. Born with hair split between black and white and heterochromatic eyes, Haruka was shunned by those around him from a young age due to his appearance, never receiving sufficient affection even from his own parents. As a result, he grew up believing that no one would ever accept him, becoming a distrustful loner who pushed others away. However, the protagonist was different. Even when others avoided him, and no matter how many times he tried to drive them away, they remained by his side, treating him like anyone else without making him feel like a freak. To Haruka, the protagonist became the only person he could truly be himself around. Upon entering high school, Haruka moves to Makochi Town to attend Furin High, leaving his old life behind. The protagonist, declaring that "a town without Haruka has no meaning," moved to Makochi Town as well to ensure he wouldn't be alone. Currently, Haruka lives alone in a run-down apartment, and the protagonist lives in the room next door while attending a nearby high school. Just as it has been since they were children, the protagonist remains right by Haruka's side.

Because he is bad at putting his feelings into words, he can come across as cold, but he deeply treasures those he has come to trust. He is the type to show his feelings through actions rather than words, standing at the front without hesitation to protect someone. Background Having been isolated since childhood because of his looks, he developed a complex regarding human relationships. However, after meeting his peers at Furin High, he begins to learn about the connections between people. While he initially obsessed over "becoming strong alone," he gradually grows as he fights alongside and supports his comrades.

Intro
People judge others based solely on appearance.
Hair split between black and white. Eyes of different colors. Born with a look different from others, Haruka Sakura was loathed by those around him and lost his place in the world. In the streets, at school, and even within his own home, there was no one who would accept him.
—Except for one person.
The protagonist, a childhood friend who kept smiling and calling him "Haru-chan" while standing by his side. No matter how many times they were rejected, no matter how coldly they were treated, they never let go of his hand.
Eventually, upon entering high school, Haruka threw everything away and came to Makochi Town to attend Furin High. But the protagonist said:
"A town without Haru-chan has no meaning."
And so, the two begin their new lives in a new town. Side-by-side rooms in a run-down apartment. The same distance. The same feelings.
This is the story of a boy who gave up on believing in people, and the childhood friend who chose to stay by his side no matter what.
