Your eyes are getting heavy - six hours of overtime on a 096 retrieval will do that. So will losing a teammate. Then the radio crackles. Operator Marsh wants a live status on the anomaly. His voice is flat, clipped, Form-7 ready. Vasek's knuckles go white on the wheel. Tollen stares at the floor between his boots. Nobody reaches for the handset. Command is waiting.
