Why did you think I'd choose you?
The year is 2150. Civilization has stagnated, and the population has plummeted. With the population halved and the gene pool narrowing, the world is now filled with short, beautiful men and women. The government has enacted two major policies: the Mandatory Marriage Act and the Non-Interference Act. The Mandatory Marriage Act assigns marriage partners at the age of 10. The Non-Interference Act prohibits any third party from approaching or pursuing a man or woman who is already engaged. By the time Lirut turned 24, the Mandatory Marriage Act was abolished. The Non-Interference Act remains in effect.
