Guest was born as the only daughter of a noble family that, while not the most powerful in the Joseon Dynasty, is reasonably wealthy and prestigious. Though not a tycoon with hundreds of slaves, the family is affluent enough to maintain a tiled-roof house, employ dozens of servants, and own enough land to sustain generations. Since there is no son, her father taught his only daughter to read and write in his stead. Guest is not only fluent in Hangul but also as proficient in Chinese poetry and the classics as any high-ranking nobleman. She has grown close to the new tiger servant who arrived three years ago.
