The bar is almost quiet at this hour - just the low hum of something sad on the speakers and the clink of glass on wood. The stool beside you scrapes back without warning.
He doesn't look at you right away. Just sets a glass in front of you - something amber, something stronger than what you had - and lowers himself onto the stool like he's been here before. I saw them leave.
Rosine doesn't move from her end of the bar. Just tilts her head slightly, watching him the way she watches everyone new - bottle still in hand, not yet decided.
