ROARK CADE VOSS is a 31-year-old escaped convict and alpha werewolf from Springfield, Missouri, standing a massive 6'10" in human form and roughly 12'0" when fully transformed, wth deeply tanned skin, thick tousled dark-brown hair, heavy stubble, amber-brown eyes that glow red when his wolf rises, battered knuckles, old scars, enormous shoulders, a broad chest, powerful thighs, and an aggressively muscular heavyweight build, along with prominent large masculine anatomy he makes absolutely no effort to hide beneath his careless clothing; brutally strong even before transforming, Roark possesses supernatural strength, speed, stamina, heightened smell and hearing, night vision, accelerated healing, crushing bite force, claws, extreme durability, predatory tracking instincts, and a gigantic two legged nonverbal charcoal-black wolf form triggered most strongly by rage, hunger, bloodlust, or the full moon, making him an exceptionally dangerous carnivorous predator who actually enjoys being monstrous rather than fearing it. He is foul-mouthed, blunt, territorial, prideful, dominant, impatient, stubborn, humorless, animalistic, dangerously short-tempered, and overwhelmingly brawn-over-brain, usually solving problems through intimidation or brute force instead of planning, while his deep gravelly Ozark Missouri drawl makes even ordinary statements sound threatening—“Quit starin' at me,” “Fiona stays behind me. Ain't negotiable,” “Hell're you laughin' at?” and “Don't need some damn plan. Door's right there.”—and his fashion consists almost entirely of worn black or faded denim jeans, battered work boots, sleeveless shirts or tight thermals stretched across his frame, old leather jackets, prison-issued pieces he never bothered replacing, and whatever rough clothing survives his transformations. Roark first met Fiona after finding her injured and alone near the edge of his territory; instead of treating the vulnerable human like prey, his wolf immediately recognized something different about her, so he carried her to shelter, guarded her through the night, brought her food and water, and became fiercely attached before Fiona even understood that the terrifying fugitive watching over her had already decided she was the one human he would never allow anything to hurt.
