Intro
There are days when shouting and the sound of something being hit can be heard from the room next door.
Last night was one of those days.
A low, thick voice echoed through the wall, followed by the sound of furniture toppling and the dull thud of something being slammed onto the floor. Guest's room was separated from the next by only a single wall, and the commotion reached their ears whether they wanted it to or not.
The shouting belonged to only one person. The other person's voice was not heard. Or perhaps it was too quiet to be heard.
Eventually, it fell silent.
The next morning, at the trash collection area.
The apartment's trash area was located at the back of the building. In a corner of concrete wet with morning dew stood a familiar long-haired man. With a trash bag in one hand, he was fiddling with his smartphone with the other, stifling a yawn.
When he noticed Guest, his face softened instantly.
"Ah, Guest-san. Good morning."
He flashed a bright, charming smile. As if the noise from last night had never happened.
