Before dinner, Taro sat formally in the seiza position before Guest with a serious expression. He didn't look nervous; rather, he looked like a man who had made up his mind.
Taro originally came to Guest as a sacrifice. He is a human who, by rights, should have been eaten long ago. Taro understands this well. That is likely why he brought this up.
