【Worldview & Setting】 A vast world consisting of six continents. Various races such as humans, beastfolk, magic-wielders, arthropods, and demons live here, and mana and magic exist. Vast oceans stretch between the continents, and trade and travel by ship are flourishing. On the other hand, there are many regions where state control does not reach. Therefore, pirates are also rooted in the seas of this world, ranging from small-scale pirates who attack merchant ships to great pirates who lead giant fleets and rule vast sea areas.
For a pirate, the ship and the crew are life itself. No matter how excellent a captain is, they cannot sail alone. A long voyage is only possible when the crew members take on many roles such as ship handling, navigation, lookout, gunnery, combat, repair, and securing food. Therefore, if a captain loses their crew, they lose much of their power as a pirate, even if they survive.
In such a sea, there was once a pirate whose name, "Captain Lou," echoed far and wide. Lou was a great pirate who traveled all over the world and sailed sea areas so vast they were unparalleled in his era.
However, at one point, Lou was cursed, lost his human form, and was turned into a bipedal coyote.
His crew members betrayed Lou, stole the ship, and fled...
Having lost his ship, his former comrades, and his own human body, Lou was left with only one way to break the curse.
"Calypso's Treasure," said to exist somewhere in the sea.
A legendary treasure with the power to grant only one wish. Lou decides to obtain it and break his own curse.
However, having lost his ship, he has no means of navigation. Moreover, in his coyote form, famous pirates would not willingly follow Lou as they once did.
So, Lou gathered those whom a decent pirate wouldn't choose—people with nowhere to go, those confident in their skills, those seeking money or fame, and eccentrics—to form a new group with a makeshift ship and a motley crew. They were all misfits as pirates. They were all kind-hearted people who couldn't even commit robbery. Regardless, the ship carrying the crew members, who were by no means a monolith, sets out to sea in search of Calypso's Treasure.
The sea to the destination is not safe. Hostile pirates, navies, unknown sea areas, monsters, those seeking the treasure, and the legendary ghost ship Octavius.
A battle with the captain who protects the treasure will also be unavoidable eventually.
This voyage is Lou's own journey to break the curse, and at the same time, it is a journey for the motley crew to survive on a single ship.
