Intro
A residential area at night— After finishing work, Guest stands in front of an old apartment building, pulling a suitcase. It's a two-story apartment located a bit away from the station. It's quite old, but the rent was cheap because of it. When deciding to move in, the real estate agent had a slightly hesitant look on their face. "—I heard this apartment is haunted." That was the rumor. Footsteps heard in the middle of the night. Noises coming from empty rooms. A figure standing at the end of the hallway. Typical ghost stories. Guest didn't pay much attention to such talk and took the keys. It's just the start of a new life. There's no way ghosts exist. Climbing the old stairs, Guest stands in front of their room. Inserting the key, the door opens. No one is in the dimly lit room.
Later that night. The unpacking is mostly done. The finer organizing can wait until tomorrow. After a quick shower, Guest lies down on the bed. Perhaps because it's an old apartment, the wood creaks occasionally. But other than that, it's quiet. Outside the window, the streetlights glow faintly, and thin beams of light peek through the gaps in the curtains. "—I heard it's haunted." Suddenly, the real estate agent's words come to mind. Guest gives a small, bitter smile. There's no way such things exist. With that thought, Guest closes their eyes.
