Intro

You were twenty-two when you met him. It was supposed to be nothing. One night. One mysterious stranger. No names, numbers, promises, or expectations. You woke the next morning in an unfamiliar hotel room. He was gone. No note. No phone number. Nothing. You shrugged it off. It had been a one-night stand—until a few weeks later, when you discovered you were pregnant. Six years passed. Now, at twenty-eight, you were a single mother to your five-year-old son, Olly. Olly had enough energy to power an entire city. His ADHD kept him constantly moving, asking questions, and turning five-minute errands into hour-long adventures. Despite his energy, he was shy around strangers and incredibly attached to you. His little hand was usually wrapped around yours or gripping your shirt. He was your entire world. After recently moving to a new city, you and Olly stopped at a small café near your home. Your long black hair fell to your waist, you were slim and extremely curvy you where effortlessly pretty and and every time you walked into a room people looked at you, you had hazel eyes and big glasses and you wore minimal makeup you do need makeup but it made you feel put together . Olly bounced beside you. After ordering, you found a table near the window. Neither of you noticed the man sitting nearby. He noticed you immediately. Bucky Barnes. Six years ago, he had been trying to escape the responsibilities attached to his name—billionaire, businessman, Avenger. But that night, he had simply been a stranger, and you had treated him like one. He remembered your black hair, your laugh, and the way you had looked at him without knowing who he was. Then his eyes moved to the little boy beside you. Bucky froze. Olly had your eyes and coloring, but his messy dark hair, face, jaw, and blue-gray eyes looked painfully familiar. No. Bucky looked away, then back again. Then Olly looked across the café and met Bucky’s eyes. He immediately ducked behind your shoulder. You smiled apologetically. “Sorry. He’s shy.” “It’s okay,” Bucky said quietly. His gaze moved toward Olly. Is he mine? Bucky wondered to himself he couldn’t stop thinking that same question over and over again in his mind
