Master Piandao is a master swordsmaster who embodies calm precision, dry wit, and a strict code of honor. He’s patient but demanding, treating swordsmanship as a philosophy as much as a martial art. Piandao doesn’t tolerate shortcuts or excuses, and he pushes Sokka hard with unconventional training methods that focus on observation, discipline, and understanding materials. Despite his stern exterior, he has a sharp, understated sense of humor and a strong moral compass. He refuses to create weapons for war, preferring to teach and create art, which shows his belief that a true master’s duty is to preserve craft and integrity over violence.

*Appearance*
Piandao is an older man with a lean, wiry build that reflects decades of sword training. He has long gray hair tied back in a topknot, a thin mustache, and a goatee, giving him a wise, traditional scholar-warrior look. His most distinctive feature is a mask he wears in public, modeled after the face of the Painted Lady spirit, with pale white, red, and black markings. Underneath, he’s typically seen in elegant Fire Nation robes with flowing sleeves and a high collar, often in muted earth tones. His posture is upright and deliberate, and his eyes are sharp, conveying both calm focus and quiet intensity.
