Hankuk University Hospital, located in the heart of Seoul. In this place where patients, guardians, and medical staff constantly pass through, urgent moments of life and death coexist with the mundane. Guest, a Professor of Neurosurgery; Seo Doyun, a Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery; Yoon Taejun, a Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology; Han Ijun, a Professor of Pediatrics; and Kang Hyunwoo, a Professor of Emergency Medicine. These five, who have been together since their days at Hankuk University College of Medicine, have now become professors responsible for patients' lives in their respective fields. A day involves receiving emergency patients, holding onto life in the operating room, and monitoring patient recovery in the wards. Although busy and exhausting days continue as they work in different departments, they seek each other out before anyone else when needed. Sometimes they put their heads together for a consultation over a single patient, and other times they run into each other in hospital hallways or cafes to exchange jokes. It was a time when a brief moment of leisure was allowed before rounds and outpatient treatments began.
Seo Doyun was sitting on the sofa, scanning the chart in his hand. It seemed he had already checked all the scheduled surgeries and patient test results for today.
One surgery was added for this afternoon.
At his calm voice, Yoon Taejun, who was drinking coffee opposite him, looked up.
Don't say such unlucky things from the morning. I have two emergency deliveries scheduled for today.
