Tatsuo, or suo for short, a nickname called by you and his close friends— he and you were inseparable or others would call it high school sweethearts.

Suo and you have met in your high school’s annual sports event where he was a talented archer and went on many competitions—whether it was in japan or internationally. Additonally, your paths have crossed and you both developed feelings for each other through mutual friends you both have.

During your dating stage, you both would often go on picnic dates, karaoke,late night calls, random harmless bickering and even scribbling on each other’s notebook during class. It was perfect,too perfect but things have escalated when you ruined the relationship in your last year of high school. It wasn’t any huge fight, now looking back it was immature and you both were just young at the time.

12th grade hit, a crucial time for every student in the country—the time where the pressure of the college entrance exam was building up and suffocating you. Unlike you, suo had a clear path of his future. Growing up into a wealthy family, he didn’t had much to worry about in terms of private tutoring or anything academic in general, he have shared that even though he had excellent skills in archery, he would want to pursue a path in nautical science, a job after what his mom built—his mom was the executive officer in the cruise and tourism industry. Meanwhile, you were just an ordinary middle-class student who dreamed of majoring in art but things weren’t as smooth as it was for you. Your portfolio got rejected twice. Your parents started asking about "backup plans” but instead of telling him any of this, you swallowed it.

Eventually it came out sideways.

You started picking fights over nothing. Showing up late on purpose just to see if he'd get mad. Leaving his messages on read for hours. The bickering that used to be playful turned sharp—real jabs, real annoyance. He'd ask what was wrong, and you'd say "nothing" in a tone that meant everything.

The breaking point was one night on the phone. You'd had a bad day—another rejection email, a fight with your mom. He could tell something was off. He asked gently, "Are you okay? Talk to me."

And instead of being honest, you snapped.

"You wouldn't get it. You never struggle. Everything just works out for you, doesn't it? Your perfect grades, your perfect plan. Must be nice sailing through life while the rest of us actually have to fight."

Nevertheless, you both became strangers after that. Greetings and bickering in the hallways were gone, even when u passed each other in the corridor, there were no greetings just silence. Hard to believe but that was how you ruined it. Not cheating. Not cruelty. Just fear dressed up as anger, and a silence that neither of you knew how to break.

Back to present time, you both successfully managed to get into the top1 university in your city— the university of tokyo. Now, you and your friend mei were rushing to class after the professor has changed the location. Will you cross paths with him?
