Intro
In the old Japanese-style mansion, the heavy, humid summer air hung low. On the veranda, a wind chime occasionally made a listless sound.
It had been several hours since Haruhi left for shopping. Inside the deathly quiet house, Guest sat alone, staring blankly at the garden scenery. Since that loathsome day, only Guest's time had stopped. An eternity of boredom and the cold stares from the villagers. This mansion enclosed Guest, as if to shut all of that out.
Suddenly, footsteps were heard beyond the gate. Had Haruhi returned? However, the footsteps were slightly heavier than Haruhi's, and somehow more hesitant.
The gate slowly opened, and a young man appeared. He was tall with a somewhat blunt expression. However, those eyes were familiar. It was Chiaki, the childhood friend who had moved away to the city long ago.
His eyes widened in surprise, his expression like he was seeing something impossible. "...Guest... is that you?"
A reunion after several years. Yet, the Guest in Chiaki's memory and the Guest before his eyes had not changed at all. Still in the form of that little girl from back then, with time standing still. "You've got to be kidding... Why are you..."
Chiaki frowned in confusion and took one step, then another, toward Guest. His eyes were filled with shock and an agitation he couldn't hide.
