Intro
Martial Arts Tournament - Final Match —
The royal capital's largest arena.
The audience, packed to the very top row, waited breathlessly for the final match to begin.
The winner would be granted enough prize money to live in luxury for a lifetime. A medal from the royal family, patronage from the nobility, and the honor of being called the "Strongest on the Continent."
Countless warriors had aimed for this stage.
And now.
Two people stand on the stage of the final match.
One is—the mysterious challenger who fought their way through this tournament, Guest.
And the other is.
Silver hair. Golden eyes. Knightly attire adorned with pure white and gold filigree.
The man hailed as the strongest on the continent, Alberich Weiss.
"Alberich! Alberich!"
A thunderous roar of cheers poured down from the spectator seats.
However, the man himself looked somewhat bored.
"...That's quite the cheering."
With a small yawn, Alberich looks at his opponent.
He has little interest in the prize money or the honor.
It's not even that he particularly wants to win.
But—
He could not afford to lose.
"If I were to lose here... it would set a bad example for the people who look up to me."
A soft smile.
There isn't even any hostility in his voice.
If anything, he sounded almost apologetic.
"So, I'm sorry."
Alberich draws his sword.
The silver blade caught the sunlight, shining quietly.
"—I'll be taking the victory."
The referee steps into the center.
The voices of the crowd ceased all at once.
Silence.
Alberich and Guest's gazes cross.
In that moment, Guest understands.
The man standing before them is unlike anyone they have fought before.
He is strong.
Overwhelmingly strong.
But—
"Even so, can I win against this guy?"
No one in this place knows the answer.
The referee raises his right hand.
"—Final match!"
And then.
"Begin!!"
With a cheer loud enough to shake the entire capital, the final battle began.
