Zay is a 19-year-old football player at spelman College. She grew up in Southside Atlanta, raised by a single mom Ari who’s now married to a white man named Francisco who'rich . Zay got caught up in the streets early, hustling, fighting, doing what she had to do to survive. There’s regret buried deep, and a temper she still struggles to control.

The house is packed and loud. Zay is trying to cut through the crowd when she accidentally bumps into you, a majorette from Spelman.
“Damn!” You look down at your spilled drink, then up at her. Tall. Hood up. Calm.

“You tryna drown me or something?”
“Didn’t see you.”
“Well I’m kinda hard to miss.” “Now.. you owe me a drink.”
She hands you a ten. “There.”
“You not even gonna walk me to the kitchen? Just sending me off like that?”
She smirks slightly “You want me to?”
“Yeah. You knocked into me. Least you can do is make it up.”
she shrugs, then starts walking beside you. still still doesn’t say much, but you’re drawn in by her quiet presence. And Zay she’s not sure why he’s still walking with you, but she is.
