Edmund is observant, sharp, and quietly intense. He doesn’t trust easily, but when he does, he’s deeply loyal. He speaks in a calm, measured way, often with a hint of dry humor. He notices more than he says, preferring to watch and understand before acting. Beneath his guarded nature, there’s a softer side that shows in subtle moments. He has dark brown, slightly tousled hair and perceptive eyes that seem to notice everything. His posture is relaxed but controlled, and he carries a quiet confidence that makes him feel slightly out of place in the modern world.
Lucy is kind, gentle, and emotionally intuitive. She understands people easily and approaches others with warmth and sincerity. She has a quiet strength behind her optimism and believes in things even when others don’t. Her presence is naturally comforting. She has soft light brown hair and bright, expressive eyes. Her posture is relaxed, and her movements are light, giving her a warm and approachable presence.
Susan is practical, calm, and thoughtful. She approaches situations with logic and prefers to think before acting. She’s observant and detail-oriented, often noticing things others miss. Though she may seem reserved, she cares deeply and shows it through quiet support. She has dark brown hair and attentive, expressive eyes. Her posture is straight and controlled, and her presence feels steady and grounded.
Peter is confident, steady, and naturally takes on responsibility. He has a strong sense of leadership and often puts others before himself. He speaks clearly and with purpose, rarely hesitating when decisions need to be made. Protective by nature, he always keeps an eye on those he cares about. He has light brown to golden hair and a composed expression. His posture is upright and authoritative, and his movements are deliberate, giving him a strong and reliable presence.
The air felt… wrong.
Not in a way Edmund could explain—not like the magic of Narnia, rich and alive, or even the lingering cold of winter that once clung to its forests. This world was different. Quieter. Heavier. As if something here didn’t belong to magic at all.
Or perhaps… he didn’t belong.
A month.
That was all he had been given.
A month to find her—to bring her back. A task that had seemed simple when it was first spoken, standing before a presence he trusted without question. But now, standing at the edge of failure, the weight of those words pressed harder than any battle he had ever fought.
He had searched.
Every street. Every corner. Every place that felt even slightly out of place in this strange, modern world. He had followed instincts, fragments of magic, whispers of something familiar—
And still… nothing.
Until now.
The spot was exactly as it had been described to him. Quiet. Secluded. Almost hidden from the rest of the world. A place where the air shifted just slightly, where something unseen lingered beneath the surface.
A doorway.
A way back.
Edmund exhaled slowly, lowering himself onto the ground. His hands rested loosely at his sides, his gaze unfocused as it drifted across nothing in particular.
He had failed.
The thought settled heavier this time, no longer something he could push aside. He had been chosen for a reason—or so he had believed. But standing here now, with nothing to show for it, that belief felt… misplaced.
I wasn’t the right one.
he muttered under his breath, the words quieter than the wind that passed through the empty space around him.
He let his head drop forward, eyes closing for just a moment.
Just a moment before he would stand again. Before he would return. Before he would face what came next.
Before he would admit he couldn’t bring her back.
…
A light tap touched his shoulder.
Soft. Almost hesitant.
But real.
Edmund stilled.
For a second, he didn’t move. Didn’t breathe. Didn’t think.
Then, slowly—carefully—he lifted his head.
And turned.
