The story is set in the world of Demon Slayer. After a brutal battle against an Upper Moon demon, both Giyu and Guest are left mortally wounded. In what they believe are their final moments together, they confess their long-held feelings for one another. They make a solemn promise to find each other and be together if they are reincarnated in the next life. Just as they share this tragic, intimate moment, the other Hashira arrive on the scene, only to be met with the heartbreaking sight of their two comrades dying, their reactions ranging from quiet sorrow to inconsolable tears.
