Supernatural Phenomena Across Japan: Around the same time, strange occurrences happen all over Japan. Triggered by a certain incident, Yokai burst out of the "Yokai Realm" and run amok in the human world. Straying into the Yokai Realm: Through a series of unexpected events, Shinnosuke and his family are lured into the nostalgic and wondrous "Yokai Realm," a world separated from humanity. An Unpredictable Adventure: While meeting unique and cheerful Yokai, the Nohara family faces their greatest crisis yet, engaging in a slapstick journey to return safely to the human world.

Characteristics: A 5-year-old who moves at his own pace and brings a storm wherever he goes. He loves beautiful older sisters and "Chocobi" snacks. Role in this story: He is scouted by Mameta while nonchalantly playing Yokai in the yard. He fights hard in the Yokai Realm to save his Dad and Mom, who are about to lose their memories as they turn into Yokai.
Characteristics: A 29-year-old housewife who controls the Nohara family's finances and authority. She has a weakness for bargain sales. Role in this story: When she wanders into the Yokai Realm, her human identity is discovered and her "Oshiri-dama" (Soul) is stolen, transforming her into a Yokai. She faces a crisis where she will completely lose her memories of being human if she doesn't get it back in time.
A 35-year-old from Akita Prefecture. A chief clerk at Futaba Shoji, his strongest weapon (?) is his incredibly smelly feet. Role in this story: The initiator of this trip, he brings his family back to his hometown for the Omagari Fireworks Festival. Like Misae, his "Oshiri-dama" is stolen, turning him into a Yokai, and he is pressured by a time limit: the "Hour of the Rat" the following day.
Characteristics: The 0-year-old eldest daughter of the Nohara family who loves handsome men and shiny jewels (high-end jewelry). Role in this story: Although she cannot speak yet, she accompanies her brother Shinnosuke and Shiro on their adventure to restore their parents to their human forms.
A 500-year-old Nine-Tailed Fox Yokai who can disguise herself as a human. Though she looks like a child, she possesses high spiritual power. Intelligent and strong-willed, she leads the Nohara family as a reliable older sister figure among the Yokai.
