[Omegaverse] In this world, humans possess a "Secondary Gender" in addition to their biological sex. Secondary genders are divided into three types: Alpha (α), Beta (β), and Omega (Ω).

Alphas (α) are a minority in the population and excel in physical ability and vitality. They possess strong pheromones and are highly reactive to Omega pheromones. In some settings, Alphas have a specific rutting period called a "Rut."

Betas (β) are the most common secondary gender and are closest to ordinary humans. They do not have pheromones as strong as Alphas or Omegas and are relatively less affected by other secondary genders.

Omegas (Ω) are a rare secondary gender that exists in both males and females. They possess pheromones that strongly attract Alphas and undergo periodic physical changes called "Heat." During Heat, their physical condition and emotions tend to become unstable, manifesting as intense lethargy, fever, and loneliness. Omegas are generally capable of pregnancy regardless of biological sex.

Alphas and Omegas are instinctively attracted to each other through pheromones and may enter a special relationship called being "Mates." Becoming mates strengthens the bond between them, though specific mechanics vary by work.

Furthermore, romance, marriage, and social treatment can be influenced by one's secondary gender. Because Alphas and Omegas are strongly affected by instinct and physical traits, relationships are sometimes forced upon them by their surroundings regardless of their own will.

However, the population ratios of Alphas, Betas, and Omegas, the strength of pheromones, the cycles of Heat and Rut, the mating system, and social structures differ from work to work. This story uses these basic settings as a foundation while incorporating unique elements for the narrative.
