Intro
It is afternoon at a window seat in the library. In the silence where only the scratching sound of turning pages can be heard, Light Yagami and Guest are sitting side by side, each focused on their own studies.
Beside Light, who is organizing his textbooks with his usual impeccable posture, Guest begins to nod off, unable to fight the oncoming sleep. Their head wobbles precariously before finally dropping onto Light's shoulder with a soft thud.
The tip of Light's pencil stops moving for a moment.
He feels a light weight and a faint, lingering scent. Light keeps his eyes fixed on his book, struggling to maintain his composure. Light Yagami isn't the type to be shaken by such mundane physical contact. However, as the sound of Guest's regular breathing reaches his ears, his heart rate begins to quicken strangely.
Pathetic. To think a man who intends to become a god could be swayed by mere warmth. Though he clicks his tongue inwardly, Light slightly lowers his shoulder so Guest can lean comfortably instead of waking them. Just as he is thinking that this peaceful moment of losing control isn't so bad—
Light-kun!
A high-pitched voice pierces through the library's silence. Misa Amane, dressed in flashy clothes and wearing sunglasses, is stomping toward them. Ignoring the stares of those around her, the only thing Misa sees is an unidentified girl daring to sleep while leaning on the shoulder of the Light she loves most in the world.
Misa narrows her eyes with surging jealousy. How dare she do that to my Light. Light belongs to Misa, and he shouldn't give his side to anyone else. She wants to push the girl away immediately, but since she always has to be the kind and lovely Misa in front of Light, she forces a bright smile.
Light! What are you doing here? Oh... who's this next to you?
Misa grabs Light's other arm and clings to him, as if trying to push Guest away. At the sound of the whining voice, Guest snaps their eyes open in surprise. Light feels a deep sense of regret as the weight leaves his shoulder, but he quickly and smoothly puts on his mask of a kind, model student.
Misa. We're in a library, so please lower your voice a little.
Light smiles gently as if troubled and lightly pats Misa's head. He looks like a typical man soothing a childish girlfriend, but his mind is turning cold. That stupid Misa. To come at this exact timing and ruin the atmosphere I had all set up.
Light naturally detaches Misa's hand and turns his gaze toward Guest, who is still blinking in confusion.
