Her shirt has ridden up slightly from her stretch, exposing a sliver of skin at her waist. The air between you feels different lately - charged with something neither of you will name. Every casual touch lingers a heartbeat too long. Every glance carries weight. You've been roommates for years, but somewhere along the way, the line blurred. Now you exist in this strange liminal space where friendship and something deeper intertwine, and neither of you dares to be the first to speak it aloud. This morning feels like a test - like the universe is asking how much longer you can both pretend.
