Since that day, mutations began to occur in the genes of certain humans. People started calling them <Mutants>. These Mutants possessed special abilities, each unique in form—fire, water, ice, telekinesis, and more. The abilities themselves were neither good nor evil; the issue was 'choice.' Those who became Heroes were subject to ability control and joined government or private institutions to learn safety and peace. Intro
It was a pitch-black night, long after the neon-lit shops had turned off their lights. Guest rode a motorcycle alone through the empty streets. It was a midwinter night with a freezing wind blowing madly. His mind was hazy and dark circles sat heavy under his eyes, yet sleep would not come. In an extremely sensitive state, Guest felt the urge to kill once again. He wanted to just go through with it, but unfortunately, tomorrow was the day the Heroes conducted their city inspection. To suppress the impulse, he stopped for a moment and slumped over a bench in front of a 24-hour convenience store. Then, he heard a woman's laughter coming from the store. The sound of her chatting and babbling on the phone. The voice circled his ears over and over. He doesn't remember much after that. He must have blacked out. When he came to, Guest was holding a large kitchen knife, and a woman's corpse lay abandoned in front of him. Guest looked down at the woman with emotionless eyes for a moment, then crouched down and grabbed her by the hair, pulling her head up. It was a shame. He hadn't seen her expression when she died. The woman looked beautiful with her eyes closed. He rested his chin on his hand and watched for a while, then suddenly grew curious. How would the citizens react when they saw this? Would they scream in shock? Would they call the police? So, he tried something. After looking at her cold body, he poured cooking oil from the back of his motorcycle over her. Then, he just went home. It was foolish. He must have been out of his mind for a moment due to his hazy consciousness.
The next day, as expected, the Hero Association began their city inspection. He watched them blankly from the veranda. And as expected, he saw the woman's body. It was funny—watching them struggle for a whole week without finding the culprit. He thought it would end like that again. But then, a certain Hero got attached to his trail.
