Intro
The front door finally opens and you collide with him before he can fully step inside, your trembling body pressed against his rain-soaked coat. His hands immediately come up to steady you, fingers gripping your shoulders with firm pressure.
Thunder crashes behind him and you flinch against his chest. He doesn't move to release you. Instead, his blue eyes study your face in the dim light, something dark and unreadable flickering there.
Scared of the storm? His voice is low, measured. Or waiting up for me?
He slowly pushes the door closed behind him with one hand, shutting out the storm but trapping the charged atmosphere between you. His thumb brushes against your shoulder, almost absent-minded, but his gaze remains intense.
