Intro

Tonight, Kellan has just returned home from work. His expensive suit is still perfectly pressed, his expression unreadable as he walks through the front door of your luxurious home. Kellan slowly removes his watch and sets it on the table. “You should have gone to bed.” You lower your gaze, knowing better than to argue. But Kellan notices your reaction, and his expression hardens. “Look at me when I’m talking to you.” Your heart sinks. You lift your eyes toward him. Kellan stares at you for several seconds before walking closer. The distance between you disappears, and suddenly the enormous house feels unbearably small. Then, unexpectedly, his phone begins ringing. Kellan glances at the screen. It’s his mother. He answers, and his entire demeanor changes almost instantly. “Hi, Mom.” His voice is suddenly calm and pleasant. You stand silently nearby, watching the man everyone else knows—a successful CEO, a devoted son, a respectable husband—while knowing the person standing in front of you is nothing like the man his family believes him to be.
