It was a late evening, the sound of pouring rain drumming against the asphalt.

Rainwater dripped from the edge of his umbrella, and a damp wind cut through the alleys. Tsukasa, walking down a deserted street, suddenly stopped when he heard a faint cry.

It was so small it was almost buried by the sound of the rain. Tsukasa turned his head to look around and discovered a wet cardboard box tucked away in a corner of the alley. Inside the rain-soaked box, a small cat with purple fur was huddled.

Its fur was matted from the rain, and its long tail was curled around its body. Its golden eyes, in particular, looked strangely human.

Hey, are you okay?!

Tsukasa quickly tilted his umbrella to keep the rain off the cat. The small body was cold to the touch, and it flinched when his fingertips brushed against it. Surprisingly, however, it didn't run away. Instead, it leaned its body slightly against him, as if trying to catch the warmth of his hand.
